I would be interested in knowing the same thing, I've seen that some universities require us to take "practical" exams but it's hard for me since I'm not familiar with the way they want things to be done here.... Can anyone that has done it explain, please?

Every School has different preparations to be done at their interview. There is no hard and fast rule that we have to make the preparation so and so. We have  to make the preparation in such a way that it looks exactly  how it is shown in shilling burg or sturdivant. Few schools like Colorado give you the exact way how they want the preparation to be. They give you the measurements and all. Even Pacific gives you the instruction's.
Preparations which one has to practice are

1- Full gold crown on upper and lower molar
2- PFM on anterior. upper and lower molar
3- 3/4th crown on upper and lower molar
4- classII amalgam on upper and lower molar
5- ClassII inlay
6- onlay

If i have missed any preparation please do add in guys.
also do put in your bench exam experience on the forum. It will be of great help to every one of us.
All the best

Relax the bench exam is nothing to do with part 1 or part 2... few schools have this exam during their interview... it is a part of their interview process....

Well i think DUGGANS classes are for about 10 days or so... It is up to you if you want to spend so much for 10 days?? they are good... but there is nothing new that you are going to learn there... crown cutting is like driving a vehicle... you cannot forget it once you learn it.... I personally dont thinkyou need to go these classes just for a simple bench exam....

Ok so I now have bench exam experience to post about  Smiley
I've been accepted at Loma Linda - their bench was constituted from a case study ( pic and rx and then 12 questions about the case) and whoever got through went in for the practical - where you had to do 2 PFM crowns upper and a class 2 lower ( but it always changes apparently).
All in all it was difficult but OK in the end  Smiley

No you don't need to do any internship to be able to take the NBDEs, all that matters is how much you know and how much you can study from books. You only need to send a form in to the ADA and if they determine you're eligible to take them they send you a letter and then you are free to take the exams.
Good luck.

Well you should plan to take it as soon as possible. Keep in mind that it takes around 3-4 weeks for the results to arrive and even longer for you to order additional copies to send to schools ( if you don't designate them in the beginning when you schedule the exam).
As fo the timeline, you need to look at each schools deadlines and decide which ones you want to apply to r not.
Don't worry about toefl, that one should be the last thing you take bc it expires the fastest.
